Waqar Mahmood Khan

Mr. Waqar Mahmood Khan serves as a Lecturer in the English Department at the QS-ranked University of Okara. His academic journey commenced in Dubai, UAE, where he completed his initial nine years of schooling. He subsequently moved to Pakistan, earning his Matriculation (SSC) under the Federal Board of Intermediate and Secondary Education (FBISE), Islamabad, and his Intermediate (HSSC) from the Board of Intermediate and Secondary Education (BISE), Bahawalpur. Mr. Khan holds a BS Honours degree in English from The Islamia University of Bahawalpur, awarded in 2015. He further pursued a Master of Arts in Education from the same institution, followed by an MPhil in English from the National College of Business Administration & Economics (NCBA&E), Lahore, in 2018, where he graduated with a perfect CGPA of 4.0. Most recently, in 2023, he completed another MPhil in Communication Studies from a prominent public sector university. His academic excellence was recognized early in his career when he received an award for General Proficiency at Our Own English High School in Dubai, UAE, in 1998. Mr. Khan has demonstrated his expertise in subject-specific teaching methodologies, exemplified by his role as a speaker at a Teachers’ Training Workshop in Bahawalpur in 2019. He has also enhanced his professional skills through the "Communication and Interpersonal Skills at Work" course, jointly offered by the University of Leeds and the Institute of Coding. Additionally, he attended CENTA's Global Teachers' Meet, the world’s largest professional platform for educators, focusing on "The Future of Teaching" on September 14, 2024. In his scholarly pursuits, Mr. Khan has made significant contributions to academia, publishing numerous research articles in HEC-recognized Y-category journals. A notable achievement includes being the sole South Asian selected by the British Council to present his research, "The Role of AI in Language Skill Enhancement: A Case Study of BS English Students in Okara, Pakistan," at the AI Forum of the BBELT Conference in 2024. He also co-authored an article titled "Double Trauma, Double Infliction: Caruth's Theory and the Paradoxical Entanglement of Pain and Survival in Curfewed Night," which was published in the esteemed X-category Scopus-indexed journal Remittances Review. Beyond his research contributions, Mr. Khan has demonstrated remarkable leadership within the department, successfully organizing and coordinating over 26 departmental events, including seminars, webinars, awareness sessions, and career guidance activities. He currently serves as the In-charge of Internal Examinations in the English Literature Department. In line with his commitment to student development, he established a Guidance and Empowerment Centre to provide comprehensive support for students’ academic and personal growth. Moreover, Mr. Khan has supervised four MPhil Linguistics scholars, all of whom successfully defended their thesis topics in August 2024 before external evaluators, qualifying for their MPhil degrees. He is presently supervising an additional four MPhil Linguistics scholars, with their thesis writing nearing completion. Mr. Khan’s contributions to academia and student development reflect his commitment to fostering an enriching educational environment, establishing him as a respected member of the academic community at the University of Okara.
