USL is Meant for Cultural & Academic Exchange Through Sports: Tariq Hameed

The University Sports League (USA) is an initiative by the Higher Education Department of the Government of the Punjab to provide a platform to the public sector universities of different regions to exchange ideas and cultures through sports, said by Tariq Hameed Bhatti, Additional Secretary (SI & AB) during his visit to the University of Okara yesterday. The Additional Secretary reviewed the arrangements made by the UO to host the USL’s Patriot League matches and expressed satisfaction with the progress of the event. He also watched a football match between UO and Lahore Garrison University and motivated the players.
Speaking to the local media, he applauded the efforts of the Vice Chancellor Prof. Dr. Muhammad Zakria Zakar for the academic and infrastructural developments of the university. Tariq Hameed, who is also the focal person of the USL, told that the USL was a groundbreaking initiative of the HED and they were trying to inculcate a culture of healthy competition among the students of various universities and encourage them to exhibit their inherent sporting skills to excel in their dream careers. The AS also met with the German Scholar Peter-Josef Boeck who is currently on 2-week visit to the UO. He thanked the guest academician for coming to Pakistan and sharing his versatile experience and exposure with the students.
The UO’s Additional Registrar General Jamil Asim, Resident Officer Genera Dr. Shahzad Ahmad, Director Students Affairs Dr. Shoaib Saleem, Deputy Registrar IT Rana Javaid, In-charge Department of Sports Sciences Shehbaz Ibrahim and In-charge Department of Public Health Dr. Tayyab Minhas were also present at the event.
